Able Planet releases budget version of noise canceling headphones
September 8, 2008 Able Planet has introduced a new model of noise canceling headphones aimed at cost-conscious audio-philes who also like to protect their hearing. Due in stores this month, the new USD$99 Clear Harmony NC200 foldable headphones utilize the company’s patented LINX AUDIO and state-of-the-art active noise cancellation (ANC) technologies.
The LINX AUDIO technology in the headphones was originally developed for a new generation top-of-the-line hearing aids as it alters the audio signal to increase the intensity of higher frequency harmonics. This approach makes it easier for listeners to hear words, music and sounds as well as increases the perception of loudness without increasing the volume.
The tech: frequency response is 20-20,000 Hz with sensitivity at 1KHz: 110dB and 116dB. The NC200 has a 3.5 mm plug and ships with a home audio adapter, a AAA battery and soft carrying pouch.
What's the saving? The fully fledged version of the Clear Harmony headphones cost around USD$350.
