November 21, 2007 Dell has placed an emphasis on aesthetics for their latest all-in-one desktop system – but the sleek XPS One is more than just a pretty screen. The computer includes a webcam with dual-array microphone, a 20 inch, widescreen, edge-to-edge tempered glass monitor that displays HD media, side mounted speakers, built in Wi-Fi, internal Bluetooth 2.0 peripherals, and a built in TV tuner and optional Blu-ray disc drive for U.S. models. Preinstalled copies of Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, Premiere Elements 4 and Adobe Soundbooth CS3 for U.S. models cap off the multimedia friendly system.

Like the recently released NEC Powermate 5010 hybrid PC, the XPS One adopts a single cord design to reduce desktop clutter, with all other connections handled wirelessly. It also includes motion sensing technology, which illuminates the display, media keys and slot-load drive with a soft blue glow when the user’s hand approaches the display. A media-card reader (8-in-1) and multiple ports are discreetly positioned on the sides of the display, and additional ports are located on the back. The XPS One will be initially offered in Japan and the U.S - prices start at USD$1499.

Called “the most beautiful Dell ever” by chairman and CEO Michael Dell, the XPS has already been recognized as one of the best all-in-one PCs, receiving an Editor’s Choice Award from PC Magazine. “Our designers synthesized input from customers worldwide to design a full, rich world of digital multimedia, combined with an elegant iconic design,” said Alex Gruzen, Dell’s senior vice president, consumer product group. “Whether as an HDTV centerpiece, music system or unobtrusive PC, the XPS One will surprise and delight with its balance of design, performance and beauty.”
