DEMO: Plastic Logic Que proReader hands-on

PlasticLogic's Maureen Mellon explains the features of the QUE ProReader

Gizmag met with PlasticLogic, the makers of the QUE Pro eBook reader/tablet - one of the most versatile and powerful eReaders to hit the market. The Que ProReader measures the size of standard piece of office paper (8.5 x 11 inches) and focuses on the business professional. Though not designed to replace your laptop or smartphone, it is designed to make paper redundant. Already there are more than 1 million pieces of online content that can be downloaded and viewed on the device. Plus you can print from your computer to the QUE Pro to carry your personal documents with you, or use it as a back-up device. Connectivity options abound with built-in WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth.

In the video below, senior director of product marketing for PlasticLogic, Maureen Mellon, takes us through the QUE ProReader step-by-step and highlights some of its compelling features, such as it’s 1/3” thickness, less than 1lb weight and its scratch-resistant, flexible, shatterproof plastic screen which enables the Que Pro a larger screen size than many other eBook readers.

Maureen also demonstrates how the touchscreen device lets you make notes on pages (like writing on a newspaper or assignment), highlight text or other items, turn pages easily and change font sizes to suit.

Watching the demo you’ll get to see how easy it is to navigate through your calendar, email, Word docs, web browser, etc, via bookmarks, mark-ups you made, specific pages or contents pages.

While it’s only a black and white only reader at this stage, a color model is coming later. The PlasticLogic QUE ProReader isn’t a toy or gimmick so it comes with a business price tag, too – available from April, the 4GB model (with Wi-Fi) will cost US$649 and an 8GB unit (with 3G) will set you back US$799.
