The super mini Concept S2 four-seater convertible is Suzuki's latest demonstration of what to expect from the next generation of sporty, powerful compact vehicles. Fitted with a light 1.6L DOHC aluminium engine (4 cylinder 16 valve) and a sequential six speed gearbox, the S2's advanced systems include an on screen character which serves as a virtual navigator and the ability to display real time weather information for the road ahead - so you wont get caught with the top-down if conditions take an unexpected turn.
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor show during September, the S2 is the successor to the Concept S and shares its chunky character, unique body shape and "wrap around window" design that hides the front pillars from view.
The "Advanced Navigation System" system allows for vehicle to vehicle mutual communication and as well as the central display screen, an LCD monitor displays a standard analogue tachometer during normal operation and animated information such as warnings and malfunction notices in the event of an emergency.
The convertible function of the vehicle is comprised of a three-part rotating and retracting roof structure - a 2 piece roof front, a roof rear and a rear window - each of which rotates by electric motor and retracts into the rear luggage compartment.
A blue design motif has even been applied to the inside roof lining to promote a feeling of "blue skies overhead" when the roof is closed.
Both Concept S vehicles are study models for a future Suzuki small car. Stay tuned to www.Gizmo.com.au for updates.
