Palm has significantly expanded viewing options for the latest Tungsten T3 handheld by incorporating a "Stretch Display" that delivers 50% more screen area than other Palm devices and adds the extremely useful option of rotating the display from portrait to landscape to best suit the type of document you are viewing.

The 400MHz Tungsten T3 runs Palm OS 5.2.1 and features 64MB of memory (52MB actual storage capacity), built-in Bluetooth connectivity (providing Internat access via a compatible mobile phone), voice memo recorder and MP3 and portable video functionality.

The slider design incorporates a 320x480 "Stretch Display" that enables simple rotation from portrait to landscape, making it easier to optimise viewing of files such as spreadsheets or photos taken in different modes. The soft keyboard area can also be collapsed to maximuse screen viewing area.

The T3 is Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook compatible and an expansion slot can be used to boost memory or add a Wi-Fi (802.11b) card.

The new Tungsten T3 is among three new releases from PalmOne (the new name adopted by Palm handhelds since the "spin-off" from PalmSource, makers of Palm OS software) - the entry level Zire 21 at AUD$199, the business oriented Tungsten E at $399 and the high-end Tungsten T3 ($799) which includes a "Stretch Display" that creates 50% more viewing area than other Palm handhelds and can be switched from portrait to landscape mode.

The Tungsten E features 32MB of expandable memory, high resolution 320x320 transflective colour screen and like the T3, MP3 and video playback plus improved Personal Information Management (PIM) features.

The Zire 21 Handheld has increased its memory fourfold over the original model (now 8MB), runs Palm OS 5.2.1 and is powered by a 126MHz Texas Instruments OMAP processor. The device supports input via "Graffiti" (Palm's simplified alphabet) or soft-keyboard and a single recharge lasts about 2 weeks with normal use according to Palm.

The Zire 21 Handheld costs AUD$199, the Tungsten E AUD$399 and the Tungsten T3 AUD$799. Visit www.palmone.com/au for further information.
