November 17, 2006 With the value of compelling video content on the rise, the ability to record what you do if you’re a thrillseeker might just make you rich. At very least, if you record your devil-may-care exploits you’ll be able to look back on them in your dotage. Now you can play hard and record everything as long time gadget impresario Oregon Scientific has released the next generation of its action camera line-up. Weighing in at less than a pound (with batteries), the US$130 hands-free, self-contained ATC2K records full colour video in 640 X 480 VGA at 30 frames per second. Expandable up to 2GB, with a built-in SD card slot and 32MB of internal memory, the shock-resistant ATC2K mounts easily on helmets, bikes, race cars, dirt bikes even three meters underwater for the duration of the battery life.

“We’ve been working hard to get the design, functionality and performance of ATC2K up to demands of the action sports and outdoor enthusiast crowd,” said Bill Uzell, executive vice president of Oregon Scientific. “We learned with our ATC-1000 that hands-free action cams are not just for kids, they’re for kids of any age and can be used in a wide assortment of scenarios. We’re even talking to firefighting organizations to use ATC2K in training situations.”

ATC2K comes equipped with mounting hardware for bicycles, skateboards, helmets and more. USB and RCA cables are also included for “insta-grat” playback on video devices or TVs. Its digital memory is expandable using standard SD cards, a 2GB card will hold nearly two hours of compressed video—plenty of time to perfect the latest stunt. The included Action Lab software lets you turn your footage from Mt. Bachelor’s Black Diamond runs into your version of Warren Miller, complete with sound and special effects. ATC2K also works seamlessly with most editing software.

ATC2K features: * Mounts easily on helmets, handlebars, and other sports equipment * Waterproof up to three meters (nine feet) * Mac-compatible * 640 x 480 VGA resolution at 30 frames per second * 4”x 2” profile, .18 lbs. without batteries (not included) * USB and RCA cables included for easy playback on PC or TV (both NTSC and PAL) * SD card expansion up to 2GB – onboard memory is 32MB * Operates with 2 AA batteries, not included
