Asimo's world tour continues
October 8, 2007 ASIMO is quite possibly the world’s busiest non-human celebrity with recent appearances in Estonia, the Isle of Man, Barcelona and even Disneyland in the US as part of a stage show. His world tour continues with a trip now planned to the land downunder, Australia.
Fresh from his European debut in Barcelona, the world's most advanced humanoid robot will arrive in Melbourne this month as the first leg of a nine-week show tour around Australia. The 'Alive & Unplugged' tour will demonstrate ASIMO’s life-like ability to run, walk, dance, talk, recognise people, hold hands, carry objects and even play soccer.
ASIMO stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility and is the result of more than 20 years of research and development by Honda. Engineering teams in Japan, Thailand, Europe and the US are dedicated to the ongoing development of the humanoid robot with the view to ASIMO being able to assist will act as a servile companion to people in need of physical assistance.
