Myvu video eyewear gets a style boost
January 9, 2008 Myvu has unveiled its redesigned line of video eyewear at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with two new models aimed at injecting a dose of fashion into the wearable, hands-free personal cinema experience: myvu crystal and myvu shades.
The new generation Myvu shades feature a glance-down design that allows viewers to maintain true situational awareness and the broad and unobstructed field of view enables new applications and uses that were not possible before. Myvu crystal features an increased resolution from Quarter VGA to VGA quality without sacrificing its sleek, ergonomic design, along with a 35% increase in the field of view over existing myvu models, providing true DVD quality.
The idea of the new line is to bring a little fashion to technology which is why Myvu engaged the services of INNO Design and renowned designer Young Kim. “We’re taking video-on-the-go from techno-geek to techno-chic, crossing age and gender barriers,” said Kip Kokinakis, president and CEO of Myvu Corporation. “Our new line brings together world leaders in design and function. Now virtually anyone can enjoy high quality mobile entertainment with style.”
Both the shades and crystal models use rechargeable batteries with up to 10 hours of viewing time for shades and up to four hours of viewing time for crystal. The viewers also come complete with earbuds from Ultimate Ears. They are compatible with most portable media players, including all iPod with video model, Sansa-View, Microsoft Zune, mobile phones (Nokia N95 and select Samsung models), portable DVD players and various game consoles.
Myvu Corporation shades will be available later this month for USD$199.95 while crystal (available Spring 2008) will set you back $299.95.
The news follows the release in October last year of the universal edition, which supports mobile phones, portable DVD players and media players.
