New Atlas dot Com, Inc. was started with private funds from the founder, Jerry Wright, President and primary stockholder. Startup funds purchased the assets for the Oklahoma City mapping cartography in a competitive bidding process through the bankruptcy of Mosher-Adams, Inc. The company’s co-founders Jerry Wright, Dave Dykes and Ronnie Huber, all former Mosher-Adams, Inc. employees, began with hand-drawn cartography and quickly began work to create digital maps, which are much more efficient and can generate many more customized options for clients.
History
New Atlas dot Com, Inc. originated from the sale of assets of the bankrupt Mosher-Adams, Inc. Mosher-Adams, Inc. was established in 1948 as the Adams Map Company. The original founder Jim Adams was a taxicab driver who saw the need for mapping of the growing Oklahoma City area. Adams began hand-drawing maps and selling them for a nickel. In later years, Marvin Mosher joined the company and began the process of drawing maps to scale with professional cartographic standards. The two men partnered and the name was later changed Mosher-Adams, Inc. on January 8th, 1976. The company name was again changed to Mosher-Adams Publishing, Inc. on September 4th, 1981. Mosher-Adams Publishing, Inc. began offering Chamber of Commerce and specialty maps in the 1980’s and quickly grew to become the largest publisher of Chamber of Commerce maps and directories in the United States.
Mosher-Adams, Inc. produced over 1,100 maps of communities all across America. The Library of Congress has records dating back to 1972.
Current Strategies
Since 1999, New Atlas dot Com, Inc. has become a nationally recognized, regional provider of high quality, accurate maps for Oklahoma and surrounding communities. With the additions of Tulsa, OK, Wichita, KS, Amarillo, TX, Wichita Falls, TX and 18 counties in Oklahoma, the company continues to expand its product offerings. Chambers of Commerce in the region are demanding New Atlas dot Com, Inc’s. high quality cartography to enhance the communities image to potential businesses and promote economic development opportunities.
The ability to produce large format wall maps and custom maps also separates New Atlas dot Com, Inc. from other map companies. As digital, on-demand maps become a preferred option for clients, New Atlas dot Com, Inc. is expanding its digital map offerings.
