Soundfreaq announces Sound Step speakers
I think it's fair to say that many music loving mobile device users are left somewhat wanting when it comes to built-in speakers. Listening to audio either involves having to wear cumbersome earphones or sacrificing device usability to plonk it in a dedicated docking station. You can, of course, just dock your device in Soundfreaq's new Sound Step speaker and top up the battery while listening or you could keep your mobile device where it should be - in your hands. Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, users can stream audio directly to the speaker while enjoying lots of multitasking action on the device itself.
Soundfreaq has released two versions of its Sound Step speaker - a mains-only model and one which sports a built-in rechargeable battery that's said to last at least six hours between charges. They both include a 30-pin Apple connector for docking and charging iPhones, iPods and iPads, but also features a USB charging port that can provide variable power up to 2.5V to Android, Blackberry and many other A2DP Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, smart phones, tablets, laptops and netbooks.
Users are also given the option to keep their devices mobile by taking advantage of the wireless streaming capabilities offered by Bluetooth, which has a range of up to 33 feet (10 meters).
The Sound Step and Sound Step Recharge are said to bring the kind of rich, full sound quality offered by its Sound Platform Bluetooth home speaker. They benefit from two 2-inch drivers and one 3-inch dedicated sub-woofer and separation of natural bass and stereo is made possible thanks to the company's UQ3 spatial sound enhancement processor. There's also an internal FM tuner accessed via an app interface and a free Soundfreaq app for Apple devices transforms an iDevice into a remote control. Line-in jack inputs and composite video out also feature.
