MAD Architects has completed work on an ambitious new train station in China, which involved painstakingly rebuilding a 100-year-old train station brick-by-brick, which now fronts a huge modern transport hub that's partially sunken underground.

Zaha Hadid Architects has designed a number of train stations in recent years. Its latest project sees the firm tackle the renovation of a railway station in Lithuania, while adding a bridge and new green spaces, and improving energy efficiency.

Construction is underway on an ambitious new project by MAD Architects. It will involve the creation of an underground train station and the rebuilding of a historic train station building, as well as re-landscaping public park space.

It's easy to get lost in a metro station, but a new station designed by Zaha Hadid Architects aims to help travelers find their way with an intuitive layout and navigation aids. The project is slated for a southeastern district of Moscow, Russia.

Stefano Boeri Architetti has completed a new project in the firm's native Italy, and for once it's not covered in greenery. That's not to say that Matera Centrale has no element of green design, as the train station is partly powered by solar panels.

ZHA, working with local firm Esplan, has been chosen to create a new rail terminal in Estonia. Assuming the finished project lives up to the early renders, it's going to be a futuristic and eye-catching addition to the northern European country.

Life for commuters on New York's subway system is set to get a little more comfortable, with the announcement that both its trains and stations are set for a revamp. The new subway cars will boast bigger doors for easier access, more standing space, Wi-Fi and USB charging ports.

A new train station in the Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung will be the centerpiece of a larger transport hub that will boast a huge swathe of new public space and knit together the local area. Kaohsiung Station will cover an area of 8.5 ha (21 ac) and boast a 35,000-sq m (376,700-sq ft) green canopy.

The new trains were unveiled last year and, now, images of its new stations have been released.

A new joint venture between Chinese and American companies promises to connect Las Vegas to Los Angeles with a high-speed rail system designed to travel at around 150 mph (240 km/h).

Tunneling work has been completed for the UK's Crossrail rail link. Described as Europe's biggest construction project, it will create a new 118-km (73-mile) rail route. The route includes 42 km (26 miles) of newly dug tunnels that go straight through the center of London.
