LaCie launches triple interface designer hard disk
April 8, 2008 LaCie’s partnership with designer Neil Poulton continues with the release of new triple interface hard disks which feature a sleek, compact design fashioned in a black-mirrored finish and including a blue LED strip to give an ambient underside glow. The disks, available in capacities of 500GB, 750GB and 1TB, include USB 2.0, eSATA and two Firewire 400 interface ports for connection to PC or Macs with simple plug and play setup supported for Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac OS X 10.3.
The disks feature natural heat dissipation thanks to a sturdy casing with bottom plate holes for natural airflow and comes preloaded with LaCie ‘1-Click’ Backup Software for PC and Mac and the Mac-only SilverKeeper for easy system backups. Also preloaded is the LaCie Setup Assistant, a utility that optimizes the drive according to your needs and automatically copies the user manual and utilities to the computer. Cables for the three interfaces are also thoughtfully included with the hard disk.
The release of the triple interface hard disk follows on from the release of the LaCinema Premier Multimedia Hard Drive earlier in the year, which also comes in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities, but supports direct connection to a TV for playback of stored media. The unit is capable of 1080i video upscaling through component output and supports a wide range of video, audio and photo formats, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DVD-Video (ISO, IFO, VOB), MP3, WMA, AC3, OGG Vorbis and JPEG. An optical output enables surround sound enjoyment while playback can be navigated using an on-screen menu and the included remote control.
The triple interface hard disks are available now starting at USD$169.99 for the 500GB model, $229.99 for 750GB and $339.99 for the 1TB capacity model while the LaCinema Premier Multimedia Hard Drives are available for US$239.99, $339.99 and $489.99 for the 500GB, 750GB and 1TB models respectively.
