Back in July, we brought news of the rebirth of two VOX legends as travel guitars. Next month, the Apache Series six-string models are joined by equally gorgeous bass guitar versions.
Like their electric guitar cousins, the new Apache Bass models come in either Teardrop or Phantom shapes. They feature onboard bass amplification circuitry that pumps out approximately 0.7 W RMS at eight ohms through a 4-inch speaker module with a natural or bright output setting.

There's a VOX single coil Bass pickup and 66 built-in rhythm patterns encompassing ten different music genres. Tempo is adjustable (40 - 240 BPM), an E-string tuner with LED indicators is built in, and there are aux-in, phones out and instrument output jacks.
Both models have a basswood body, maple neck and 21-fret rosewood fingerboard (30-inch/762-mm scale length) marked with white acrylic dots. They're both available in four finishes and are powered by six AA-sized alkaline batteries (supplied), which should provide continuous low end thunder for about 26 hours before needing to be replaced.
The Teardrop model tips the scales at 3.3 kg (7.2 pounds), while the Phantom is a little heavier at 3.5 kg (7.7 pounds).
VOX Amps has given the Apache Bass a November release window for a street price of US$349.
