Ah yes. More sophisticated means of killing each other. How wonderful. All this stuff will be VERY expensive, will require a lot of maintenance, and will be very vulnerable to cyber attack. So the arms race will continue unabated. Who will really benefit? The investors in these companies of course.

If the same effort was put into PEACE it might be a better world to live in instead of just feeding the greedy money makers.

These systems will be much more targeted than anything currently in existence. We will be able to take out an enemies ability to wage war with the least amount of casualties and collateral damage.

Because it's so much better to kill people cheaply with guns. Better yet, swords, spears & arrows.
The SWORDS robots in the photo with the kneeling man in camo is used in large numbers to neutralize IEDs. The manufacturer, Foster Miller, has tested it with a variety of weapons, but the USA has not bought or used armed ones .

Excellent, and when the companies producing all this technology decide to expand their markets, they can sell it to the NSA and others who can use it to spy on U.S. citizens even more thoroughly than now. I can't wait.

Skynet guys. Between this and those DARPA cheetah robots, we're going to be running for our lives in a decade.

Whenever there is a Gizmag article about military advances, I race to read the comments from people who think we can just get enlightened as a species suddenly based on a Gizmag article comment despite millenia of history to the contrary, and the ones who think Skynet is real and once AI becomes a reality, sentient machines will watch The Matrix and The Terminator and decide to wipe out the human race. It's fascinating.
