Fiat's performance brand, Abarth, has announced that a new 695 biposto called the Record is entering showrooms in the United Kingdom ahead of a global release. Only 133 will be produced.

The special edition Fiat 500 Abarth 695 biposto Record commemorates the Scorpion brand's race heritage, with the production run of 133 representing the 133 records it holds. The livery and interior match those of the racing cars that have set many of those records, specifically the Fiat Abarth 1000 Monoposto Record Class G. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Carlo Abarth acceleration record set by the then 57-year-old in 1965. In October of that year, Carlo had lost 30 kilograms (66 pounds) of weight to enter the race after having failed to find the right driver for the car. His Class G sported 105 horsepower.

Adorned in exclusive Modena Yellow finish and Tar Cold Grey trim, the 695 Record also has 18-inch OZ alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, and an Akrapovic exhaust. Sabelt carbon shell seats, four-point seatbelts, and a unique numbered plate finish the interior.

Based on the current sporting model, this new Abarth 695 biposto Record has the same 1.4-liter turbocharged, 16-valve T-jet engine that outputs 190 horsepower (142 kW) and 184 pound-feet (250 Nm) of torque. Weighing only 997 kilograms (2,198 pounds), the car has a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of just 5.9 seconds. Top speed is 143 mph (230 km/h).

There is of course, a premium attached to this exclusivity and performance – pricing for the Abarth 695 biposto Record begins at £36,610 (US$55,645).
