Nice car but too bad it's not electric with 750+ HP and AWD.

It's just a tarted-up Lotus Exige...

@gizmowiz Outside of their similar engine displacement and wheelbase, the Exige and 4C have very little in common. The Alfa has a bit more horsepower and a lot more torque and is lighter and faster. In exterior design, they have only a passing resemblance.
Keith Reeder
I guess you were replying to me, Aaron?
CONCEPTUALLY you couldn't get a cigarette paper between them: they do they same thing the same way, and they have far more than just a "passing" resemblance at the fundamental design level.
Incidentally: the Exige S has a tested 0-60 time of 4.08 seconds (actually 3.8 seconds according to Lotus), 345 HP, and a top end of 170.
Keith Reeder
Oh - and 400nm of torque...

I just hope that when the inevitable happens, re: "Get the car up to speed, though, and suddenly the steering wheel becomes the tightest, most precise, most dangerous thing you've ever handled", I am not the poor so-and-so coming the other way.
Whether there is room for cars like this on today's crowded traffic systems is a question I will leave for others to argue over. But whether their drivers have the right to risk taking the rest of us off this mortal coil is something I strongly object to. Any search of YouTube for 'car crashes' will provide enough videos of obviously serious, even fatal accidents to give anyone pause, no matter how much fun driving can be, it can very rapidly cease to be so.

Great car, good review. I think this car is destined to be a classic more because its Italian than a copy of a lotus. I would buy one if I had a need for another sports car, and it had more power.

I think that is way cool. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is going on my Christmas wish list.

Love these cars (including the Elise/Exige). They are the closest thing to riding a 1-liter Moto-GP copy that the majority of drivers will ever experience. One reason they elicit such emotion is that, like all great relationships, they force you to live in the moment; reveling in the relative danger and in the fact that all of your sense are called into service. Of course the danger is quite real when it comes down to body on body contact with almost any other car (or, God forbid, truck) on the road. That's why they must be driven like a motorcycle i.e., presume other drivers have no idea you are in the vicinity and stay well out of their blind spots. Fortunately they are made to be driven athletically...

Great review. Reviewers in car magazines are so blase about cars which would make we, the readers, tingle in delight. It's nice to see a review by someone who can convey the joy and adrenaline which we would feel if we took the wheel ourselves.
