technologically Advanced? For one hundred years ago maybe.
Sadly that is the state of arrested development "serious" bicyclists (meaning aspiring racers within Olympic rules that have hardly changed in that time) have to contend with today. For years now other technologically advanced carbon fiber bikes that are not constrained by archaic rules have been going at speeds as high as 83 mph in the deserts of Nevada near Battle Mountain.

It's always a comfort to witness the best modern manufacturers with the most advanced capabilities, experience and brilliant minds fail on innovating this antique device in a significant manner. This is one of the very few devices that we have inherited from long ago and must be so fine and well executed that it has been practically perfect for decades. It's a comfort knowing that we have received this apex of pedestrian fit of engineering.

We need more bike lanes not new bikes.

Ug! They call this advancement, that bike frame style is over 100 years old now. So you put the gadgets that people add to their bikes into this one, so what! Want to impress me, change its shape, make it more aerodynamic, show me a new drive system, make it faster with less effort. SHOW ME INNOVATION!

There are more photos of the bike at factorbikes.com but the point of the bike isn't just to go fast, it is to measure detailed aspects of rider performance. It is the kind of thing that will be produced in very small quantities and shared among race teams as an expensive training aid.
You use it for things like identifying weaknesses in certain muscle groups that you target in training for competition.
It doesn't sound like much but one of the things that pushed formula 1 to the limits are the on board computers that capture excruciating levels of detail that is analyzed by teams of engineers and super computers on the sidelines.
It is the kind of data that will tell riders the most efficient gear to use for a 10% incline, which sized sprockets are best for individual legs of races, which peddle clip technology delivers the best upward torque, which riders are hurting themselves by doing too much of the work with a dominant leg etc.
Just because it isn't useful to you doesn't mean it isn't useful, and because a huge portion of the cost is likely due to the custom computer there is potentially room for future versions to come down in price by a decent amount as printed circuit boards or ASIC's are used and R&D costs are recuperated.

Looks like a 1960 Sears 10-speed with funny wheels to me. Broken record year after year- hunched up 10 speeds with skinny rails to sit on... will someone please get the record needle off that crack??? Glad I grew up to get a Schwinn Varsity in 1965. Then a high tech Schwinn Varsity. 15 speeds and locking brakes! UTOPIA!!!

How can people miss the point so badly? The technologically advanced part of the bike isn't in its shape or materials, it's in the computer system. Look at the types of things it measures on the Factor site and try to get that with a Garmin. If you were building a frame to go fast, you wouldn't build all kinds of electronics into it. Like Diachi says, it's a training bike, not a racer.
I don't get the Aston Martin tie in or the 25,000 price, though.

There's a reason that the shape is what it is. It works, and it's efficient. Granted, a road-race bike is not as efficient as a time-trial bike, but a road-race bike, with its trailing caster, is much more stable than a time-trial bike and, thus, much safer to ride in a group (peloton).
Hunched up? Well, it's quite efficient. It works. It's aerodynamic and it lets large muscle groups do their thing.
No, it's not recumbent, but I've never been comfortable in a recumbent - it feels funny to me to push against the direction I'm going, and I can't really slam hard like I can on a road bike - just stand up and use gravity to my advantage. . .
So, summing up, carbon bike with a LOAD of sensors that can tell me how much force I'm putting out as well as everything else I can get from Polar or Garmin. . .yeah, sexy!
