With the exception of the absurd, limited-edition Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, the Bentley Bentayga represents the current peak of all-terrain luxury. Not content with that tag, the team in Crewe has created the Bentayga Mulliner, an exercise in leather-lined excess for the Geneva Motor Show.

Whenever the Mulliner badge is applied, you can be sure Bentley has pulled out all the stops to distinguish it from more run-of-the-mill versions. In past, it's been used on special Continentals and a long(er) wheelbase Arnage, but the Bentayga is the first four-wheel drive to be given a more exclusive makeover.

The transformation starts on the outside, where the car has been treated to a two-tone finish. Bentley says the paint split has been chosen to separate the cabin and hood from the main body, creating a floating effect. We're not sure if floating is the right way to put it, but the dual-color finish does give the Mulliner a classy, classic look. The effect won't be limited to the show car, it'll be on the options list for any cars ordered after April.

Working with the fresh paintwork is a set of 22-inch wheels with floating wheel centers, along with chromed bumper grilles and body-colored bumpers. Not huge changes, but enough to set the car apart from the pack nonetheless.

Inside, the standard Bentayga interior has been treated to a two-tone leather finish. The front and rear seats can be delivered in seven different color combinations, and the hides chosen are all finished with unique embroidery and contrasting stitching. Unique wood trim, which transitions from black to a paler shade of burr, is used to finish the doors and dash.

Beside fancy cowhide, nothing says coachbuilt luxury like in-car champagne. A bottle cooler sits between the rear seats, complete with bespoke crystal glasses, perfect for those moments when you just need a glass of bubbly on the move. That not enough to improve your mood? Passengers can also toggle six mood-lighting presets, or create their own.

As you'd imagine of a special-edition, Bentley has dipped deep into the options list for the Mulliner. A 20-speaker Naim audio system is standard, as is an app-controlled remote heating system to make sure the car is always at the right temperature when you get in. The full range of active safety features is present, including lane-keeping assist and radar-cruise control, while keen drivers will be pleased to know the 48V Bentley Dynamic Ride suspension system is standard as well.

The Bentley Bentayga Mulliner will be on show at the Geneva Motor Show, where New Atlas will be on the ground covering all the action. Pricing details haven't been released, but the car will be built in limited numbers.
