> Detroit Electric says the SP:01 will accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 3.7 seconds and will hit a top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h).
How useful is this in the real world, where people spend most of their time riding in the city?

This looks just like a re-bodied Lotus Elise. I see that Detroit Electric is taking a cue from Tesla Motors by applying the same formula of a lightweight nimble British sports car (Lotus Elise) mated to an electric motor and drivetrain. Elon Musk be proud. A chicken farmer from Texas applied a similar formula to a now famous British sports car, by stuffing it with a big American V8.

Fastest eh!
One word... or is it one model: Model S P85D!
Oh yes... I believe it can seat 7 also!

That's the best looking Elise i have seen in a while.

It's being clearly marketed as a sport car, not a commuter. If performance driving doesn't appeal to you, you have plenty of other options. If this car is in the price range of its cosmetic peers, lol be very interested. It blends some of the nice aspects of the Elise, 4C, and a little of its own game to the table. Very nice. Early 2015 sounds a little overly optimistic, though...

Very nice!
I hope this car sells really well. It's great to see companies like this coming along and joining Tesla in the electric car market.
I tell you what - Tesla's cars and this one sure beat the ugly G.E. Volt in the style stakes (and probably everywhere else as well). There hasn't been a car as ugly as the Volt since the Edsel.

not the fastest, but looks like it should be a fun, good handling car. Tesla beat them to the punch on this...Still, more competition is a good thing. Lets hope it can be had at a somewhat reasonable price. I would LOVE a fun electric track car.

wow, another lotus ... and it's electric! How'd they ever think of that?

Detroit Electric is based in England? What's wrong with this picture?
