The 'fit anywhere' eMachine EL1200 Desktop Series PC.

October 14, 2008 Thankfully the days of the big, beige box seem to be well and truly behind us. Now PCs are available in all shapes and sizes with eMachines EL1200 Desktop series opting for the popular smaller end of the spectrum and at a budget price. With PCs making their way out of the study in recent years the compact eMachines EL1200 Desktop Series PCs are designed to fit neatly into main living areas such as kitchens, family rooms, family den, studio apartments, dorm rooms, smaller bedrooms and home offices.

Weighing in at just one-third the size of a traditional PC, the new PCs start at just under US$300 and are no slouches in the performance department either. Featuring 64-bit AMD Athlon processing power, 1GB or 2GB of memory and NVIDIA GeForce graphics, the EL1200 provides impressive performance for their size and price. The EL 1210-01e even makes connecting to an HDTV is easy via its standard HDMI port, and high-quality audio is delivered with the included set of amplified stereo speakers.

Its sleek design includes a flip down door that hides the optical disk drive, while the 14-in-one media reader and seven USB ports provides fast transfer of videos, photos, and music and quick connections to printers and other USB devices. If the hard drives ranging from 160GB to 320GB prove too small a built-in eSATA port provides a fast connection to external drives for additional storage.

On the green front the energy efficient EL1200 uses less energy than a standard desktop PC thanks to a low-power 15-watt CPU option and its smaller size means less metal and plastic will have to be recycled.
