Frankly I'm amazed how long it took to give us cameras without a mirror. In the digital age it was redundant from day 1. I assume the camera makers did not think us consumers would pay for a high end non mirror DSLR. Finally digital cameras have come of age. Thank you Gizmag for comparing the latest offerings.

Why not include the Sony Nex 7?

The Sony NEX 6 has a fantastic 2.3 million dot EVF which has a very high refresh rate. It also has auto switching from viewfinder to LCD. It also has a very compact 16-50mm kit lens with power zoom. That lens on that camera allows me to carry the camera in either a vest or jacket pocket, a very big plus since it means I always have a camera with me

I just got a FujiFilm X-Pro-1, I have been waiting for sometime for a camera like this and Im very happy with it. With an adapter it takes many of the lenses I have left over from my film cameras, even if there not digital lenses I still get great results and with a little savie photoshop work you would not know. 14,000 for an M9 leica is a little to much and from what I have used the image quality is not all its cracked up to be.

Great review.
Unfortunately each camera has at least one significant shortcoming when compared to its peers.
Hopefully by mid or end 2013 we will see cameras from all these makers that are equally excellent in all the areas mentioned, then we will be dumb struck with buyers choice paralysis. I can't wait!

I was glad to see you updated the review to include the EVF on the NEX 6. It is a shame you did not delve deeper into using the cameras, since if you had your opinions would be much more valuable. Things like accidently changing exposure comp or hitting the movie button or doing anyone of a number of dumb things are important to report on.
My main problem with the NEX 6 is how often I accidently change exposure compensation. I carry the camera in a vest jacket pocket so it I can accidently change things. It just takes some geting use to check things out a bit more carefully before shooting if you like carrying a camera in a pocket rather than hanging it around a neck.

I'm surprised the flagship camera from Panasonic was left out. The GH3. To add insult you mentioned it was edge out by the list of cameras which included Panasonic LUMIX GF5. This model is an entry level version in comparison.

Many thanks Simon for this round up of mirrorless camera options.

Thanks Simon for the fabulous review. Really helpful comparison is done. I'm trying to buy digital cameras. Now it's really easier me to decide which camera to buy. :)
