One of the biggest things I do on my tablet that I can't do on my phone is read comics and 7 inches isn't much better my 5 inch phone so I'll always go 10 inches on my tablets. I can even read text and browse fine on my phone so I'm not really interested in a 7 inch tablet. I wish Google would have Asus make their next 10 inch tablet though.

Exodus, i do agree that a 7" tablet isn't much better then a phone, but some people just want a tablet and not a phone. Personally I have a phone because its necessary for work. I also agree that a 10" version would be great but again it some people prefer holding and typing on a 7" tablet. All that said, the major cost of a tablets actual cost is the touch screen and battery. Itself. A 10" screen would cost at least twice a 7" screen, use more energy, requiring a bigger batter and in general be heavier. You would think as you get bigger the cost per area of a screen would decrease but it does not. as you get a bigger screen the likelihood of a production flaw greatly increases leading to significant cost increases and more expensive machinery. Personally I wouldn't mind having a 80" LCD tv with a few flaws for half the price, but they typically just destroy defective screens or so we are told. Anyways, I agree more options are better, but I think a 7" screen is a good size for a tablet. Like you I will just continue to use my phone and put off my tablet purchase till there is one that does something worthy of the hassle of a second electronic device. Sorry but I think tablets should have IR transmitter for our tv, a FM/TV receiver, FM transmitters to interact with older car and home stereos, built in projectors, better speakers, USB ports for devices, more physical buttons, be waterproof and durable....... I mean all those things could be added to existing tablets for almost no cost and even if you only need one of those features the others would be icing on the cake. Tablets have the room for a few extra cheap chips antennas and doodads.

Unfortunately, I had to take mine back because after about 3 hours, it wouldn't power back on nor would it take a charge.

I think its biased to say its like retina like display (whoever the writer is), actually its way beyond retina display....keep up the good work, Google!

Mantion, I know 7 is a popular size. I have a few friends that never even got a 10" tablet and bought the first nexus when it came out. I had my 10" and they always said it was 'too big' and loved the nexus 7. Since I have a 5" phone I don't see the need to have a 7" tablet but that is just me. The world seems to like 7" more than 10". If it wasn't for comics I could honestly go for a 7" tablet but on anything less than a 10" I have to either zoom or pan and that just ruins the experience for me.

I have a Nexus 7 and love it. I also have a laptop. I have always been concerned about the laptop being stolen when I've been using it away from home. It's too difficult to secure away from home so it's limited to home use rather like my desktop. The Nexus 7 fits into the pocket of my jacket. It's always accessible whenever I need it. A 10 inch table would have the same security issues as my laptop.

Would it be possible to program the nexus 7 so that the control buttons were always along the narrow side of the display. In landscape position, I would much rather lose a little space to one side than a lot of space along the bottom. And on the side they would be easier to operate with a thumb.

The continuing stupid mistake with the Nexus devices is the lack of internally expandable memory via a microSD card slot.
Is this some strange ideological flaw of Google, or are they deliberately trying to handicap the device to push you onto something different?

The HTC EVO VIEW 7" (Sprint version) tablet beats all of the new tablets because it has expandable memory thru its micro SD card slot (up to 32 gig) and you got WiFi + 3G... all for $199! I'm with Wombat56. Unfortunately, the new HTC tablets seem to suffer from the same gross mistake as all of the others... no micro SD card slot. WHY???
