what about nuclear test we have done in the post, are we in nuclear winter already?
David F
Is the model used by researchers based on the assumption that the global cooling observed between the 1940s and '70s was due to the spate of above-ground nuclear testing?
ta2025
Total Bullshit. We detonated 100s of nuclear tests in the 1950’s and 1960s, some over land, some on land, some over water, some underground. The Russians even detonated the Czar bomb in 1961 that had a yield of 50 Megatons, created a firebal 5 miles in diameter with a mushroom cloud that reached the megosphere. We didn’t totally obliterate the planet then, even though climate scientists warned we might “ignite” the atmosphere....

Someone should review if the massive Forrest fires we've had around the world have equated to any noticeable cold event. Or our carbon print when the regular eruption of a singe volcano puts out more 'greenhouse' gases and soot than a large country would in a few years. I've noticed life is thriving around all our man made nuclear meltdowns.
People should focus more on industrial toxic waste, air pollution and deforestation. Those are the real big hitters.

The time and money used up by these speculating "scientists" could be better spent designing plugs for volcanoes. Humans can choose war or not. We have no choice when it comes to volcanoes.

I agree with TA2025: Total Bullshit. Just a total fabrication of reality and facts. Already the world has detonated over 1000 megatons of nukes since WWII.

Tzar Bomba detonated in Oct 1961 covered a base of 40kms - or nearly 1600 sq kms. No nuclear autumn resulted. This is again modeled results that do not include known results. Very poor science.

BS, 100 small nukes wouldn't even take out Florida, much less the world. Larger nukes do much less damage/KT and you'd need 2-4 to take out a large city. Past nuke tests also disprove it. Fact is after the first few nukes, other nukes can't get though the debris. They even are considering exploding a nuke at missile fields to destroy incoming nukes that our missile that are moving much slower can go through.

If all the speculation were true and the problem with the radioactive fallout could be over looked, it sounds like these scientists have come up with a solution for global warming!

Nearly all nuclear weapons tests have been on and then exclusively under deserts with just a few in the ocean or high atmosphere. The concern here is partial combustion of megatons of carbon blasted into and hanging around the upper atmosphere.
