Porsche's Panamera sport sedan is already loaded with premium features. Never one to sit back and be content with what it has, however, Porsche has just announced a new trim package for the Panamera called the Platinum Edition. The new trim will be available on both rear- and all-wheel drive versions of the sedan.

The premium Platinum Edition features include Bi-Xenon headlights, with Porsche's dynamic light system. Also included are 19-inch wheels with a Porsche emblem plastered in the middle. Parking assist comes standard along with a 300-hp V6 engine. That engine is the only option available with the new trim, so you won't be grabbing the 500-hp engine of the Turbo S.

The interior comes standard with partial leather seats, and a full leather option is available. The interior comes in a black/beige combination. The upper part of the dashboard and the door trim, the foot-well and the back of the front seats are black, while the rest of the interior is beige. Of course, Platinum Edition graphics are on the front door strips, so everyone knows it's the premium version of the sedan.

It wouldn't a Porsche without some premium tech on the inside, and the 585-watt, 14 speaker Bose sound system certainly reflects that. The package also comes standard with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen navigation system that controls the entertainment in the vehicle. Porsche's Power Steering Plus, and front and rear heated seats, also come standard on the Platinum Edition.

The base MSRP for the Panamera Platinum Edition will be US$80,500. For the fully-loaded Panamera 4 Platinum Edition, MSRP will be $84,600. Both Platinum Edition models will hit dealerships in the U.S. as of January 5.

Fahrenheit 451
Does this scream Americanized version or what? Tacky chrome exterior bits and badging. Pathetic.

Damn Porsche! They act as if it's their right to make a profit with these "tacky chrome exterior bits and badging." Disgraceful.
