There is a review on Youtube that show a guy using the Hubsan X4 Controller with this quad and it will do all the tricks. It is also a much more reasonably sized controller.

I think that is really cool.
Perhaps if they made the controller big enough that it could also be used as a carrying case for the tiny quad copter, it would make the controller big enough to handle more comfortably? (just thinking out loud). :)

As mentioned by Dennis above, please see my review about how to use a larger Tx (from the Hubsan X4 V2) with it. :)

Where did I leave that flyswatter?

@BigWarpGuy: That's a pretty danged cool idea. Make a larger controller/carry case. Awesome. I may have to pick up one of these. With the extreme disappointment of the Phantom getting a mind of its own and being lost forever on the very first flight, I'm in the mood for one that doesn't set me back $500!!! Too bad it can't hold my GoPro.

Is this the same Estes that makes model rockets and engines?

I just got this little bugger tonight.. this is the first quad I've had and it is really fun. Can't wait to try it on a calm day outside.

Ryan Becker, thanks for the video on the Estes Proto X. I can make you that carry case if you like. I'd thought I'd try that quad (first one for me) but then figured I'd try the The New Hubsan X4 H107L Improved Version instead, since it has the controller you like, included. Anyway I do like small projects and will be happy to tackle a little carry case, no charge, of course. My email (dee)(ee)(three)(seven)(four)(two)(one)(at)gmail(dot)com. Best, David
