Congratulations on becoming a dad! :)

We got one of these when my daughter was born. It was great ... until after a year. Over the year a little bit of smell leached into the bin until it had to be disposed of itself.

We were using one of these over 10 years ago for my son who is now 12. Great product - works well - but by no means a new concept.

Your taking one of the most bio-degradable substances (poop) and wrapping it in one of the least bio-degradable substances (plastic).
How can companies get away with non bio-degradable products? (especially when said product is a holder of fertilizer)
Seems so backwards.

Bravo. A well composed article. Well done.

You have chosen the most environmentally unfriendly means of dealing with your infants excreta. Let the dog do it, you don't even need nappies.
Dogs are adept at dealing with what comes out of the back ends of puppies and left to it, it appears your dog will happily clean the bum of your baby.
You have the perfect automatic sewage recycling and disposal system, make use of it!

My only concern would be the anti-bacterial aspect...it supposedly kills 99% of the germs...what about the other 1%? Do they become stronger? More able to mutate into some form of pathogen that spells doom for all of us? Will this be from where the Zombie Hordes emerge to devastate humanity???
Oh, nice article, by the way.

I'm wondering how they tested the "it is 100 times better at odour blocking". What's the unit for odour?

@Stuart Wilf Wilshaw - Pigs are better at this than dogs. Given enough human fecal matter the dog will sicken and die. You can feed pigs human waste all day and they just keep on eating. It is one of the reason pigs used to be kept even though they were not considered edible. They make great primary waste treatment systems as their poo is fertilizer. Human waste will kill you when used as fertilizer; if it isn't fermented for three years.

The unit for odour is a 'stench'. There are 10 whiff's in a stench, and 100 stench's make a stink.
