I see quite a contradiction in praising the low cost simple 60 hp version and then only test 90 and 110 hp version with full special costly options ...

I wish they would make these thing feed off standard 20 pound propane tanks.

The entry level Yamaha is about $1,000 more and 10 times the craft. Yamaha and Kawasaki scrambling to come up with something competitive? Hardly! These things are pure junk and are targeted at people with zero water experience. You get what you pay for here, garbage. They are unstable with 2 people and darn right dangerous with 3. If price is an issue by a much more reliable and superior used Yamaha. Guarantee if you do a comparison you will not be towing the Spark home.

or how 'bout a high-output electric model? When we had these things at the lake we only ever rode 'em for 30 minutes at a time. Seems like recreation would be a great platform for electric.

Great revue. Very comprehensive.
However, I can't, (never could), understand how this device can use 10 times less fuel than the opposition.
Will somebody please explain what is really meant by this expression?
It seems to me that it's just another way of saying that fuel consumption is 1 tenth of the opposition, and if that's the case, why not say so.
I don't believe that mathematically or scientifically there is any such thing as "10 times less" of anything!!!

About time sanity prevailed. When we conducted the first PWC test in Australian Motorcycle News many moons ago, I think the most powerful was the ill-fated Suzuki Wet Bike with around 80 hp. Once again, the Yanks have a lot to answer for with the 'bigger is better' attitude. Give me something that you can easily man-handle, with sufficient power to get the job done with enough in reserve for fun and not so big that it needs its own garage. BTW Loz, you should be able to get that knee down on these puppies....

Loz in a wetsuit, something I don't want to see, Thanks :-)

The jet-ski fad as passed. Too big, too powerful, too expensive to buy, too expensive to operate. One could buy a nice used boat for the whole family to enjoy. But the big reason sales are down is that the market is saturated. Everyone that wanted a jet-ski has one. And after one does a few 70mph passes, then what?

I think the real problem is the fact that not many have the money to spend on such an expensive toy. While they fill a unique niche, their performance stinks compared to a small boat with the same horsepower.
