Drivers aren't the only road users susceptible to smartphone distractions. To keep cyclists focused on the road, Dutch telecom company KPM has teamed up with the Dutch Traffic Safety Association to develop a smart bike lock that disables the rider's phone while on the move.

There are plenty of cargo bikes, e-bikes and comfortable full-suspension bikes on the market, but it can be tough to find a combination of the three. Riese & Muller may have successfully married the three elements with its full suspension, electrically boosted, cargo-carrying Load e-bike. ​

The Porsche 356 is practically priceless, and one of the most beautiful cars to ever hit the road, but it's also given life to an underground "Outlaw" movement for people keen to ride the slipstream of the legend. Emory has taken this aesthetic and applied it to the Outlaw Tracker Vintage e-bike.

A different style of compact bike from the folding bikes we see here at New Atlas, the Minimal Bike keeps things simple and light. Designed by Dutch bike guru Bram Moens, the carbon fiber Minimal Bike tips the scales at under 15 lb (6.8 kg).

Adding e-power to folding bikes makes it easier to traverse town sweat-free, but batteries are generally heavy and bulky. ElectroBike thinks it has managed to perfectly mix electric power and portability with the Air-33, which packages a usable range in a reasonably priced, lightweight package.

​​The Greyp G12S was a beast of an e-bike, but its power kept it mostly in the dirt. Now Greyp has toned it down with the G12H, a street-legal version that trades in the 70 km/h top speed of its predecessor’s Power mode for a battery with twice the capacity and a range of up to 240 km (149 miles).​

Aerovelo has set a new human-powered speed record using its specially designed aero bike. Running at the World Human Powered Speed Challenge in Battle Mountain, Nevada, the egg-shaped Aerovelo Eta managed to hit 89.59 mph. ​​

Peugeot started life making coffee mills, before jumping into bikes in 1830. Although it's found a niche in the automotive world since, occasionally it dabbles in the two-wheeled game. The electric eF01 is the latest, aimed at making ​last mile ​​transport a sweat-free enterprise.

Modern bikes are lighter and more efficient than ever before, but their basic design is rooted in the past. Cyclotron is trying to change that with a hubless carbon creation, complete with lighting fit for a sci-fi film.

eBikes might be good for commuters who don't want to arrive at work all sweaty, but the technology can also provide a helping hand to cyclists who want to get down and dirty. Shimano has recognized this with the new STePS MTB, a rugged eBike motor designed for off-road performance.

The Salamander Bicycle Stroller aims to keep parents on the move by providing a two-wheeled way of getting around town and quickly converting into a stroller when they reach their destination.​​

Kids' bikes are learning to grow as quickly as children. Designs like the Grow bike and B'kid expand in size to keep up with the fast-growing tyke. The new Leg&Go bike does that and even transforms to keep the ride going indoors and out in the snow.
