GMC

  • Starting in early June, GMC will begin offering carbon fiber truck beds for its Sierra line of pickups. The Sierra CarbonPro will be offered with the Denali and AT4 half-ton pickups. This is the first purpose-built production carbon fiber truck bed and GMC developed a composite specifically for it.
  • GMC has introduced its new Sierra HD, which will offer drivers no less than 15 different camera views to help maneuver the giant truck – and one of them will let you look right back through the trailer you're towing, allowing you to see what's behind you as if the trailer wasn't there at all.
  • GMC has fully redesigned the Sierra 1500 pickup truck for the 2019 model year. Changes are from the ground up with a new body design, improved underpinnings, and a multi-phase tailgate gimmick. We spent a week in the truck and found all of these to be good things.
  • GMC has revamped its Terrain for 2018 and the new generation of the crossover is improved in almost every way. It's a bit smaller and lighter, easier to drive, more comfortable, and more efficient. There are drawbacks to the new 2018 Terrain, but not enough to hurt its family-friendly appeal.
  • If you look through the gallery, you’ll likely get the impression that we used towing with pickup trucks as an excuse to spend a day on the sand dunes in ATVs touring Zion Park. You’d be 99 percent correct in that assumption. It turns out though, even for experts, towing is more than it appears.
  • GMC has taken its Sierra 2500HD Denali 4WD and turned it into a snow-munching monster with four grippy tank tracks replacing the wheels. The All Mountain concept vehicle looks like an absolute blast as it tears its way up the ski slopes of Whistler in a promo video.
  • GM has come under fire for allegedly installing defeat devices on over 700,000 vehicles with Duramax engines. A class action lawsuit argues GM and Bosch knowingly sold cars tuned to emit illegal amounts of nitrogen oxide when outside the test environment.
  • Coming off record sales in 2015, the GMC Acadia has gotten a rather extensive reworking in a bid to become more the mid-size crossover that the crowds are clamoring for. New Atlas recently got behind the wheel and took it on a long weekend through Western North Carolina.
  • When it comes to trucks, bigger is almost always better. That's why GMC has given the Sierra HD a rough, tough makeover. The Sierra HD All Terrain X is readier than ever to take on the wilderness, and look good while it's doing it.
  • It may not happen often, but it's tragic when it does – parents forget that their baby is in their car, so they leave them in there when they park, and the infant subsequently succumbs to heat stroke. To help minimize the chances of this happening, GM is introducing its Rear Seat Reminder.
  • Cylinder deactivation is nothing new, it’s been used in automotive for decades. A new system called Dynamic Skiip Fire from Tula Technologies takes this idea to a new level with significant fuel economy gains as a result – especially in heavy-duty applications.
  • GMC has announced the 2016 Sierra All Terrain X as an extension of the All Terrain model. With premium extras intended to enhance off-track capability, the special edition pickup also features an aggressive use of monochrome coloring on the exterior, giving it a more sinister appearance.
