  • ​At CES 2017, Nividia promised its G-Sync technology would be making its way to UHD HDR gaming monitors from the likes of Acer and Asus. Acer's Predator X27 went up for pre-order earlier in the week, and now Asus has announced its contender for the money's-no-object gamer – the ROG Swift PG27UQ.​
  • Way back at CES 2017, Nvidia announced that its G-Sync technology was about to make its way to UHD HDR gaming monitors. A few months later Acer revealed the Predator X27, but availability and pricing was unknown. Now we know it will be landing next month, and that will retail at just under $2,000.
  • If you use your PC or laptop as an entertainment or gaming center, then the biggest, brightest and best resolution monitor you can get your hands on is likely a must. Philips has just announced a huge display that should tick all those boxes, and can be had for just shy of a thousand bucks.
  • LG is heading to CES with two new monitors. A 34-inch UltraWide model pops 5,120 x 2,160 pixels while the second monitor flings 4K resolution across 32 diagonal inches.​ Both debut Nano IPS, where nano-sized particles on the LED promise premium picture quality and more life-like viewing.
  • ​With all the new game trailers and announcements coming out of Gamescom this week, now might be a good time to upgrade your rig. Lenovo has launched three new gaming PCs for its Legion line aimed at hardcore, mainstream and casual players, as well as a new monitor with High-Dynamic Range (HDR).
  • ​Last year, Samsung launched a pair of gaming monitors that combined an immersive curved panel design with the superior color offered by quantum dot technology. Now it's released a new ultra-wide monster that boasts double full HD resolution across 49 diagonal inches at a crazy 32:9 aspect ratio.
  • ​LG's latest monitor should tick all the boxes for those that are after a cleaner multiple monitor setup. With a screen size of 42.5 in, the catchily named 43UD79-B can display a single source in 3840 x 2160 resolution full screen, or up to four screens of full HD from different sources all at once.
  • The landscape orientation of computer monitors is perfect for watching YouTube videos or Netflix movies, but not so good for reading PDF or MS Word documents. Maker Robert Johnson has come up with a mechanism that physically rotates his widescreen monitor from landscape to portrait when needed.​
  • ​At CES this week, Dell unveiled a few nifty ideas, including the Canvas digital artist's workstation, a 32-inch monitor bursting with 8K resolution, a wirelessly chargeable 2-in-1, and a refresh of the company's other laptops, AIOs and monitors.
  • DJI has unveiled the CrystalSky monitor, which is bright enough for details to be visible in direct sunlight. At CES this week, the company is also introducing a new Osmo Mobile rig, a route-planning and 3D mapping app, and a limited-run, Chinese New Year Edition of the Phantom 4.
  • With CES less than a week away, Samsung has previewed a new curved Quantum Dot monitor it will unveil at the show. Aimed at gamers, the new CH711 is a 16:9 monitor that will come with screens measuring 27 or 31.5 inches housed within a white chassis.
  • LG has announced a couple of new monitors that it will showcase at CES in January. The line includes a 32-inch 4K monitor with HDR capability, aimed at creative professionals and gamers, and an ultra-wide multimedia monitor with Chromecast functionality built in.
