British sports car manufacturer TVR may have begun operations in 1947, but it changed ownership in 2013. The brand's first new car to come out since that resurrection, the TVR Griffith was unveiled this Friday at the Goodwood Revival event in the UK. Created by Gordon Murray Design, it features a carbon fiber chassis, a top speed of over 200 mph (322 km/h), and a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration time of under four seconds.

Thanks to its carbon composite structure and body panels, the Griffith weighs just 1,250 kg (2,756 lb), has a 50:50 weight distribution, and offers "exceptional" torsional rigidity. There are deep air intakes in the body, which reportedly generate high levels of downforce and cooling. The car also incorporates a full ground-effect aerodynamic package, to keep it stable at high speeds.

Under the hood, in front, there's a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre Cosworth-enhanced V8 engine. It enables 400 bhp/tonne, and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The version which was shown at Goodwood is actually the Launch Edition of the Griffith. Among other things, it features a full leather interior, custom alloy wheels, special paint options, and a bespoke infotainment system. Production of the TVR Griffith Launch Edition should begin late next year, with pricing starting at £90,000 (about US$118,800).

"Today's unveiling is the culmination of nearly three years of tireless work by the team, and we're all proud to be able to show the new TVR Griffith to the world," says company chairman Les Edgar. "This is unmistakably a TVR, a British muscle car that's as awesome and brutal as it is charismatic and refined."

This is not a TVR, it is a front engine McLaren. Only the exterior gives an impression of TVR. At least the name is back.

This thing looks and sounds awesome! They've always been impressive but this one I could actually imagine driving and owning... Nice.

... And those air vents. I've got them in my old Ford fiesta and it's no criticism to see them here. They're the best possible type and favour function over form. I've said before that every other type is a step down in usefulness. I never want anything else ever again. Seeing them made me think that these people mean business.
