It looks like some thing out of the upcoming Disney Tron movie; what Tron would take to the shore and drive on the beach. It looks really cool; IMO.

This is just wishful thinking and clever marketing. If photosynthesis could provide enough energy for movement we would live in a world of triffids.

remember the first Japanese rubbish which first came to the UK in the 60\'s ?The Chinese are going through a similar stage in their automotive history, Give them 5 years and they will be producing some amazing stuff, at a fair price

thanks for the very informative article about the emergence of China

Amazing technology which we in the US could produce if the climate change nay-sayers would admit the truth and free our industries to meet this challenge. We will be left in the dust (or smog)

It doesn\'t have to generate enough power for movement. If the solar component generates enough power to run the AC on a hot sunny day, or the heater blower on a cold sunny day, or to simply power the stereo, it will make enough of an impact to justify the technology.
\"Since 1978, when Deng Xiaopeng came to power, China has averaged annual growth of 9.9 percent..\" caught my attention. The West needs that kind of economic growth, but we aren\'t going to get it anytime soon with the current antagonistic \"in your face\" political climate.

Whoa. Is that Michael Jackson behind the wheel?

They must be using a multi-junction solar cell technology (dual junction or triple junction) that picks up the RB and/or RGB light rays... 20% to 30% effeciency rating at one sun... this is the only way onboard battery could be recharged to power the electric motor. Forget the wind power off the hub caps... Note the little round solar cells located in the green leaf top. Can anyone out there verify they are using multi-junction technology?

What a crock!! Maybe the fact there is a car or truck for every person almost in the US, recession, has something to do with declining production here.
Next the Yez is a bad joke. It's way too wide for crowded China and windgens in wheels or PV roof is a bad joke as the WG's won't work and PV won't add more than 1 mile/day at most, not enough to pay their cost. Plus not enough sunshine gets through their smog!!
Next is where is China going to get it's energy to run all these cars? They have little oil and coal runs out in 30 yrs. Only by staying in very small, light, usable vehicles with EV drive can they hope to survive.

China\'s urbanisation and \'car\'bonisation is a tragedy for the planet. They should be investing everything into sustainable public transport - because that will do so much to increase the quality of life, instead of getting them on the \'got to get a better job, earn more money, buy a better car, etc etc treadmill that \'civilized\' societies have adopted - which is killing the planet.
GM has so much to answer for - their conspiracy in the 1920s & 30s to buy up public transport & close it down.
Sure this concept car is a bit of PR for the neg CO2 concept - it is doable, perhaps in another way - but we should not be looking at cars for everyday personal use.
P.S. I am an automotive engineer.
