MSI has added another fanless mini-mainboard to its industrial platform computing range. The 3.5-inch, ultra-low power MSI I3-945GSE-D board features an Atom processor, slots for DDR2 memory, USB ports, a SATA II connector, a VGA graphics port and expansion capabilities via mini-PCIe.
MSI has been supplying industrial platform computing solutions for digital signage, automation, ATM, point-on-sale, kiosks, and so on since 2006. The company has just announced a new small form factor industrial mainboard which features Intel's Atom N270 1.6GHz processor on a 945GSE chipset.
The MSI I3-945GSE-D board also sports an Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator with VGA interface and a 24-bit dual channel LVDS connector. Although a VGA graphics port might seem like a strange option in these days of digital visual interfaces, it's still a much-used format in industry.
Also featured is a powered SATA II connector which offers transfer rates of up to 3Gb per second, four USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet, Realtek ALC887 HD audio codec, a SODIMM memory slot for up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a CompactFlash slot.
