Scion has given the public a sneak peek at what its new five-door compact hatchback will look like – more or less – at the LA Auto Show. Called the iM Concept, a production version of the car is scheduled to arrive in dealerships sometime next year.

Like most Scions, the iM is aimed at 18-34 year old consumers who want a fun and sporty yet reliable and economical car. The i in its name stands for individuality, intriguing and income (as in, a good fit for your income), with the M stands for modern, multifaceted and magnetic.

Little in the way of specs have been provided, although the car is described as having sporty handling and a "racing inspiration." This can be seen in its wide stance, low ride height, front and rear bumper overhangs, fog lights and deep air intakes. It also features an adjustable-height racing suspension, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, and a braking system that incorporates vented rotors and 4-piston front calipers.

Additionally, its fuel economy is said to be "excellent."

The production version of the car will be unveiled next April at the New York International Auto Show, at which time more specs will be provided. An exact price has yet to be announced, although Scion has stated that it should be less than US$20,000.

It looks a bit like the previous Mazda 3 hatchback. Not really my cup of tea but not really a bad thing.
Toyota should keep some focus on expanding Scion because Toyota itself is kind of boring. They have so much time and effort behind hybrid tech it almost seems like a waste not to build something affordable and sporty. A sport + hybrid version of the IS 250 would be cool.
Maybe Ford is in a better position to build something along those lines with Fusion.

I know it's just a Corolla but I kind of like it. Still would have loved to see the bB Gen 2 here instead though.
