China's Hisense arrived at CES 2013 with a brand new line of Ultra-LED (U-LED) XT900 televisions, which will be available in 65-, 84-, and 110-inch sizes. The company's XT900 line boasts an impressive 3,840 x 2,160 pixel resolution along with 120 Hz panels allowing for an active shutter 3D picture. The U-LED screen also incorporates local dimming technology to deliver a more dynamic contrast ratio.

The TV also comes with Wi-Fi capability and a detachable USB camera for use with various Smart TV applications, such as Skype. The camera also allows for facial recognition and gesture controls.

We got a look at the 110-inch model on the show floor and the picture is impressive, though not the sharpest image on display at CES (that distinction still belongs to the 4K models being shown by other companies). The 110-inch size certainly commands attention however, even in a bustling space.

Here are the key specs for the XT900:

  • UHD (3840 x 2160) native resolution
  • U-LED Technologies
  • 120 Hz
  • Wi-Fi enabled
  • Smart TV with Google TV
  • 65-, 84-, and 110-inch screen sizes
  • 3D
  • Precise Local Dimming
  • Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio (10,000,000:1)
  • Multi-Screen Play
  • Detachable camera (Skype calling, gesture and facial recognition)
  • Voice control

Unfortunately, no pricing or release dates have been revealed just yet.

Why do the images of high relolution TV/Monitors look better than the normal images my monitor displays? Is this an optics trick?
