June 7, 2009 Bang & Olufsen has announced the release of the BeoVision 7-40 flat-screen LCD TV, incorporating a Blu-ray player and double-frame-rate technology.

Already established as a leading part of the Danish company’s line-up, the stylish BeoVision series has been updated with a built-in Blu-ray drive, replacing the DVD drive. The 40-inch anti-reflection televisions also boast 120 Hz double-frame-rate technology with motion compensation. The fast picture refresh rate is designed to significantly reduce the blur normally associated with LCD units.

Sound-wise, the user can choose between two customizable loudspeaker options. The BeoLab 7-2 stereo loudspeaker is more suited to televsion, while the BeoLab 7-4, with a built-in acoustic lens, is better for surround sound.

Viewers also have a choice where they can place the television. There are motorized wall and table mounts as well as a programmable “turn and tilt” mechanism that can adjust viewing angle by 89° horizontally or vertically. The BeoVision 7-40 will also remember the last viewing position and return to it when switched on.

This, of course, can be accessed using the Beo5 remote control which can be also configured to control other household equipment like light settings or a security system. The sleek units are available in a range of colors, such as the traditional black and dark grey as well as red and gold.

Available this month, the BeoVision 7-40 retails for about USD$13,500. Head to the Bang & Olufsen website if you want a closer look.
