For those of us who like drinking beer or other bottled drinks straight from the fridge, there is never quite enough room to fit them all in, especially if you're having a party. Which is where BottleLoft, a magnetic hanger for your refrigerator, comes in.

BottleLoft frees up space by allowing you to hang beverages of your choice from the ceiling of your fridge. It consists of strong neodymium (grade 52) magnets embedded in narrow plastic rails. The plastic rails are affixed to the ceiling of your fridge, and your beer or other drinks are then hung from the magnets.

This diagram shows the individual components which make up each BottleLoft

Each BottleLoft holds three bottles, so you could potentially have them running across the full width of your fridge. The adhesive used to affix the rails to the ceiling of your fridge is a low-temperature application grade of 3M VHB, which is strong enough to hold the whole thing up but which can be removed using a putty knife.

BottleLoft is currently being funded through a Kickstarter campaign, with Brian Conti of Strong Like Bull Magnets seeking US$20,000 to start producing this patent-pending design. A pledge of US$20 rewards you with one BottleLoft, $39 gets you two, and $69 gets you four – assuming they reach production.

The Kickstarter campaign video below shows BottleLoft in action.

Neat, my concern is the self stick adhesive securing the magnet strip to the plastic in the fridge. Even weaker in a cold environment. Besides after a couple dozen trips to the fridge things could get messy. Messy-eh? No it's me Wayne!

First, the moisture when opening the door will interfere with the adhesive sticking properly.
Second, how much usable space do you think you will gain under the bottles?
Third does your fridge not have a door with a bottle rail on the bottom already?

Hmm, would keep things organized but how much space would it really save? Eh, I bet these sell relatively well though, just for the novelty. I see this kickstarter succeeding.

Genius!

What's the point here? I agree with other comments on sticking issue after a while. Generally you stack a 6 pack on another 6 packs in the top shelf. Now you have to take one by one and carefully stick to them to the ceiling? Yet another novelty that offers a solution for non existing problem.

This is one of them ''damn wish i would have thought of that'' moments for me, The adhesive is not a problem, I have used 3m in the past to hang a fan, to assist in cooling speeds.

I guess this might work on a new refrigerator which has not cooled down yet. Useless for in use ones unless you are ready to dump all the other perishable to let all condensation to dry out.
Only thing of interest for me in the article is the 3M VHB tape which I will check out for other possible applications. BTW I have found a lot of other uses for K&J magents.

@ pmshah Rubbing the surface vigorously with a dry towel will cause heat, allowing time to apply adhesive to the surface. Refrigerators are dry on the inside, so if the outside is humid it will attract it, so therefore applying the adhesive tape on a humid or rainy day should be avoided. . this might or should be included in the installation instructions.

I am not so sure about this for beverages but it sure would be useful for keeping condiments organized and to keep the most frequently used tools handy by mounting in the utility room or inside a cupboard door.
