Four years ago, Lamborghini first released the Aventador LP 700-4. This week at the Geneva International Motor Show, the automaker unveiled its latest take on the model – the lighter, more aerodynamic and more powerful Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce. It's described by the company as "the purest essence of a Lamborghini Super Sports Car."

Thanks largely to the extensive use of carbon fiber and "enhanced lightweight engineering," the Superveloce is 50 kg (110 lb) lighter than the LP 700-4.

It's also more powerful, with its naturally-aspirated V12 engine producing 750 hp (552 kW) and allowing for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of just 2.8 seconds. Its top speed is reportedly somewhere over 350 km/h (217 mph), and its power-to-weight ratio is 2.03 kg/hp.

"In the Superveloce Lamborghini's expertise in lightweight engineering is clearly evident," said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "With technological features which, combined with design, quality standards and craftsmanship, the Superveloce results in the most exclusive, pure and emotional production model in the history of our brand."

There's currently no word on pricing or availability.

Previous special editions of the Aventador have included the open-top Roadster, the limited-edition LP 720-4 50° Anniversario, and the outrageous one-off Aventador J.
