Boeing’s lanky new 787-10 Dreamliner has left the nest for the first time. The maiden flight of the longer, more spacious plane lasted just shy of five hours, as it was put through the paces to check flight controls, systems and handling.

As rival airlines attempt to draw new customers in with more luxurious seats and unique experiences, Qantas has unveiled a new premium economy cabin for its 787-9 Dreamliner. Not only is there more space, passengers get more technology and storage in the luxurious new setup.

Boeing has whipped the (very long) covers off the latest addition to the Dreamliner family. The 787-10 was launched during President Trump's visit to the Boeing factory in South Carolina, and blends the outstanding fuel efficiency of the existing 787-8 and 787-9 with room for even more passengers.

Qantas is to become the first commercial carrier to offer regular non-stop flights directly from Australia to Europe, using the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The 14,498 km trip will take around 17 hours, and be the longest direct flight service for a Dreamliner anywhere in the world

Boeing has completed the detailed design of the 787-10. Major assembly work on the widebody, long-range Dreamliner is slated for next year, with the first flight scheduled for 2017 and deliveries to begin in 2018.
