If there's anything I've learned recently, it's this: Netflix is seriously limited in its streaming picks. I can't say I'd like to rewatch The Perfect Couple or Suits again, and most of the other selections are kind of brainrot-y type TV that I'd rather not watch at all.
It's safe to say I've been disappointed with the latest streaming options, which is why when a friend suggested MagellanTV to me, I knew I had to check it out. It's a streaming service offering thousands of ad-free documentaries on countless topics. It took just one stream for me to realize I'd made my best investment (so far!) of 2025.
It's only been one month into the new year, and already, I've been snowed in on a few occasions. Luckily, MagellanTV has kept me entertained through the coldest winter days and nights and has even helped me learn a new thing or two while streaming. Some of my favorites so far are John F. Kennedy: Making of a President or I Shot My Parents.
Here's what else I love about this documentary streaming service:
- I can pick a documentary playlist (created by MagellanTV) for times I'm not sure exactly what I want to watch and get a pick through there.
- I can share my MagellanTV account with friends and family since my account can be used on up to five devices. Beat that, Netflix!
- This subscription is mine for life—actually. All I had to do was pay the one-time fee, and I'll never have to pay a subscription fee for MagellanTV again.
With documentaries spanning topics like history, science, nature, crime, and beyond, I know I'll never run out of documentaries to watch or learn from. Plus, new content is added on a weekly basis, meaning it'll be pretty tough to get bored of MagellanTV.
