Innovative Converged Devices (ICD) has unveiled its new Vega 15 inch touchscreen tablet, an Android-powered communication and media device that features wireless 802.11b/g, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity, a Tegra combined application and graphics processor from NVIDIA, an ambient light sensor and accelerometer.

ICD says that its goals are to simplify, innovate and impress. The Vega, the first in a future line of Android-based products, features a 15.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel resistive touchscreen powered by NVIDIA's Tegra processor.

Android 2.0 Eclair runs the show and will allow the user to connect and communicate with friends via 802.11b/g WiFi or 2G/3G mobile internet access. Users will be able to chat, email, SMS, MMS, social network or just surf the web. The company says that music, video, gaming and on-demand TV will also be possible on the unit, which also offers Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0 connectivity and features a 1.3 megapixel web/stills camera.

The Vega has 512 MB of DDR DRAM and 512MB of NAND Flash plus MicroSD card expansion of up to 32GB. You'll also find a 3.5mm audio jack, dual digital microphones and internal speakers sitting within its 373 x 254 x 16 mm frame. The accelerometer caters for a few viewing options and the ambient light sensor should adjust for optimum image definition in different lighting conditions.

ICD claims that the Lithium Ion battery should provide about four hours of entertainment before it needs charging via the magnetic docking station. Pricing has not yet been confirmed but the company is hinting that the Vega will be in the lower priced end of the market. It'll be made available worldwide some time during the first half of 2010 but will be on display at next year's CES show in Las Vegas for those who simply can't wait.
