IK Multimedia has confirmed that the iRig HD premium audio interface for guitar and bass that was announced back in January is now ready to ship.

Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, as well as Mac computers, the compact and slim iRig HD is claimed to offer players studio quality digital sound, and features 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion technology that's said to nip annoying noise and crosstalk in the bud. It allows control over low noise, high-definition preamp gain, samples at 44.1 and 48 kHz, and has a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. Completing the audio specs is a total harmonic distortion of 0.005 percent, input noise of -97 dB RMS and a 330 mVpp to 7 Vpp input level.

The instrument is plugged into the device via a quality 0.25-inch Hi-Z input jack, but, unlike the original iRig, the HD doesn't sport its own audio-out jack. Monitoring headphones can now be plugged directly into whatever Apple device you're using. The iRig HD is powered by the device it's connected to via the supplied interchangeable adapter, which caters for Lightning, 30-pin and USB connectivity.

The iRig HD is available now for US$99.99, which is a bit of a jump from the original (and still available) iRig's price tag of $39.99. The basic version of the company's AmpliTube app is also included as a free download from the App Store, but as an extra incentive, it's been treated to four new HD gear models.

IK Multimedia has produced a promo video, which you can see below.
