According to recent league tables, Samsung is king of the hill when it comes to smartphone brand popularity in China. If you were asked to name the company biting at its heels in second place, however, what would be your guess. Apple? Nokia? Huawei? Perhaps you'll be surprised to learn that it is in fact Lenovo, the world's second largest computer maker. The electronics giant has confirmed its commitment to become the number one supplier of handsets in its home country, and power into other regions, by unveiling six new models in Las Vegas this week ... the most impressive of which is the stunning IdeaPhone K900.

Final specs are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, but Lenovo has revealed that its new flagship Android smartphone has a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display panel (at over 400 pixels per inch), topped by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. It will be powered by a yet-to-be-released next-gen Intel Atom (Clover Trail+) 2 GHz dual-core processor with 2 GB of RAM

A space-saving redesign of the PCB and battery layout combined with a stainless steel alloy composite and polycarbonate unibody construction has allowed the company to significantly slim down the new smartphone to just 6.9 mm. That's the same thickness as the newly-announced ZTE Grand S 5-inch Full HD Android smartphone with a Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and a 13 MP camera, and makes it a good 0.7 mm slimmer than the iPhone 5, though it is a tad heavier at 162g (5.7 ounces).

Its dual flash 13-megapixel camera lies flush against the outer shell, and sports a Sony Exmor BSI sensor and wide aperture, low-light-friendly F1.8 focal length lens. There's also a lower resolution camera to the front, with an 88-degree wide angle lens.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but the K900 will hit the Chinese marketplace in April, followed thereafter by select regional markets.

In other Lenovo news, five other smartphone models have been marked for release in 2013. The S890 has a 5-inch, 960 x 540 pixel resolution display and an 8-megapixel auto-flash camera, while the 4.5-inch, 960 x 540 pixel resolution IPS touchscreen S720 is powered by a dual-core MTK processor, has been given a 2,000 mAh battery, is dual-SIM capable and gets an 8-megapixel snapper.

The dual-SIM P770 has a powerful 3,500 mAh battery, there's a dual-core processor running at 1.2 GHz powering the A800 with a 4.5-inch display and 2,000 mAh battery. Lastly, the A690 also has dual-SIM functionality and has a 4-inch, 800 x 480 pixel resolution display panel.

More details are promised shortly.

Very impressive all rite, but April in China means we would wait till at least August here in India , That way way too long. Also why haven't manufacturers like Lenovo not jumped onto the Win Ph 8 bandwagon ?
Also, there seem to be some misinformation here. Lenovo P770 is already available in India for almost 6 months at a mouth watering price of 250 USD
