Incandescent light bulbs may put out a warmer-looking light than LEDs, but they're far less efficient. Technology may save them yet, however. Scientists have developed a new incandescent bulb that reuses the heat it gives off, converting that heat into more light.

GE is releasing an LED with the equivalent of a 40W incandescent bulb that lasts 25 times longer and requires only 9W to operate.

At a time when the incandescent bulb is itself being replaced by newer lighting technology, Industrial designer Sergio Silva has sent the bulbs back in time by turning reclaimed light bulbs into an oil lamp dubbed the Oyule.
