Magic Lantern

The venerable Canon 5D MkIII can now record in 4K RAW video formats thanks to Magic Lantern, a free firmware download that hacks the EOS DSLR's operating system and unlocks all sorts of new abilities Canon usually reserves for its dedicated video cameras.

The Magic Lantern team has finally cracked the Canon EOS 7D. New firmware for the 7D will be available soon!

From tomorrow, Canon 550D, 600D and 60D users will be able to shoot high dynamic range (HDR) video straight from their cameras thanks to Magic Lantern.

Trammell Hudson has developed an enhancement to the firmware of the Canon 5D Mark II dSLR camera to include a few audio and video fixes.
