The 2019 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance continued to grow in stature this year, but it was the symbiotic cluster of elite auctions that threw up the most interesting results. The collector car market is undergoing generational change, attracting a younger clientele driving prices below $500,000.

Sometimes the "world's first sportscar" chosen by journalists is based on their particular definition of the term "sports car", sometimes by myopic national bias, sometimes by a complete failure to look at history, but mainly because it has repeatedly been regurgitated by people who don't know and can't be bothered investigating.
