Orbital ATK

When the Orbital OTK OA-9 resupply mission lifted off on Monday from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, its 7,385 lb (3,350 kg) of cargo included centuries-old technology alongside cutting-edge physics experiments. 

The First manned Orion mission took another step closer to reality this week as Orbital ATK, in partnership with NASA and Lockheed Martin, completed a successful static ground test of the abort rocket motor for the Orion capsule's Launch Abort System (LAS).

The world's largest plane has just rolled out of its giant hangar for the first time. The Stratolaunch aircraft, which boasts a wingspan greater than a football field, is designed to carry rockets into the stratosphere, where they are released before continuing on into space​.

There has been a lot of talk about government partnerships with commercial entities at the Space Symposium in Colorado, not least of which was the announcement that Orbital ATK is in major standing to compete for a US Air Force contract for a new rocket system to deliver payloads to space.
