Robonaut 2

NASA has released new images and video of the leg modifications to the Robonaut 2 robot currently working aboard the International Space Station (ISS). R2 will receive its new limbs early next year.

NASA and GM engineers have created Robo-Glove, a power-assisted glove designed to keep astronauts and autoworkers from getting repetitive stress injuries.

An historic clasping took place on February 15, 2012, when NASA's Robonaut 2 (nicknamed R2) humanoid robot greeted Commander Dan Burbank aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in the first "man-machine" handshake in space.

Robonaut 2 will become the first humanoid robot to head into space this month when it blasts off aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.
