  • There was a time when 2-in-1 laptop-cum-tablets were a niche tool and a bit clunky to use. Quickly, however, they've become much slicker and will surely become a mainstream device in the future. Presumably of the same mind, Toshiba has just released two such pieces of kit.
  • Looking to take a bite out of Japan's food market, electronics giant Toshiba has announced plans to construct a vegetable production factory in Yokosuka. The factory will use optimized conditions to foster indoor plant growth, the company expecting its output to yield US$2,962,200 in annual sales.

  • Google and Intel have announced a batch of upcoming Chrome devices based around Intel's 4th-generation Core i processors. Acer, HP and Toshiba are all due to release new Chromebooks before the holidays, with Asus also joining the party with a Chromebox desktop computer.
  • Toshiba has unveiled an 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet named the Encore. Developed in collaboration with Microsoft, the device features the latest generation of Intel's Atom processor, and has been optimized for Skype calls and video chats.
  • Toshiba has announced the Satellite W30t and W30Dt at IFA 2013. The new 2-in-1 computers feature detachable backlit keyboards and multi-touch screens to give users a more versatile Windows 8.1 computer in an extra portable package.
  • Toshiba has gone and thrown its hat (or helmet, perhaps) into the actioncam ring. The company's new Camileo X-Sports model bears more than a passing resemblance to the GoPro HERO, although it boasts one extra key feature – a built-in 2-inch LCD viewfinder/playback screen.
  • Toshiba has revealed what's claimed to be the world's fastest SD memory cards, its Exceria Pro series, which boast a write speed of 240 MB/s. However, photographers and videographers might have to wait a while before getting to make use of that speed.
