There's something uniquely appealing about spending the night in a forest, and the recently-completed Woodsman's Treehouse lets its occupants get in touch with nature without requiring them to rough it. Boasting luxury features like a sauna and hot tub, the architect-designed vacation home also has a fun slide for those who want to make a quick exit.
The Woodsman's Treehouse is located in the Crafty Camping luxury glamping site, in Dorset, England. Raised on stilts, it was constructed over five months using mostly local materials and was designed in a collaboration between Guy Mallinson and architect Keith Brownlie of Brownlie, Ernst and Marks.
Visitors reach the treehouse by crossing a stressed ribbon bridge. The front door itself is very cool and consists of a heavy oak door with marine porthole and a submarine-style locking mechanism that must be rotated for it to open.
Inside the treehouse there's a small lobby, with a toilet to one side and the main living area ahead. This latter space includes a bedroom with king size bed, a kitchenette, some comfy chairs, and a copper bath placed against a large window.
A novel rotating fireplace is located in the center of the living area, and in a nice touch, a section of glass-bottom floor allows occupants to gaze at the stream below.
Elsewhere in the treehouse, a deck area is home to a wood-fired pizza oven, barbecue, and an outdoor shower. A spiral staircase also leads to the rooftop area, which contains a private sauna and hot tub.
The Woodsman's Treehouse is available to holiday-makers for rent.
